You fly with one Certified Flight Instructor from your first lesson through the day you pass your checkride. They learn how you fly, where you're solid, and where you need another lap around the pattern, so no lesson is spent bringing a new instructor up to speed on you.

How every lesson here is run.
Every instructor here teaches to the same standard. Disciplined and personal, with the patience to make it stick. Here is what that looks like in the cockpit.

The same CFI, start to finish
You keep one instructor from your discovery flight through your checkride. They learn how you learn, so no lesson is wasted re-explaining what the last instructor already covered.

We train above the minimums
The checkride is a minimum standard, and we teach well past it. We drill the judgment and habits that keep you safe through years of flying, well beyond what the examiner checks on test day.

Maintenance under the same roof
Your instructor and the A&P mechanics who keep the airplane airworthy work out of the same hangar. When a squawk comes up, it gets fixed here, so your lesson on Saturday morning actually happens.

FAA Certified Flight Instructors
Everyone who teaches here holds an FAA Certified Flight Instructor certificate. We look for more than the certificate before someone teaches a student of ours.

We train to the checkride standard
Your training follows the same FAA Airman Certification Standards the examiner grades you against. Nothing on your checkride should be the first time you have seen it.

Ground time counts too
We brief before every flight and debrief after it. Sorting out a question on the whiteboard is cheaper and safer than sorting it out in the air, so the ground work gets the same care as the flying.

Paced to your week
Some weeks you fly twice. Some weeks life gets in the way. We work with the pace you can keep and build a schedule around your week, with weekend lessons by appointment.
Chief Instructor
Led by our Chief Instructor.
Alpha Company Aviation is led by our Chief Instructor and a close family team with military members in the household. The school grew out of an in-house aircraft maintenance shop, so the airplanes you learn on are maintained by the same people, in the same hangar.
As the team grows, every instructor who joins meets the same standard our Chief Instructor sets: a Certified Flight Instructor who teaches thoroughly, communicates honestly, and stays with the student through the checkride. We would rather grow slowly and hold that standard than take on more students than we can teach well.
The in-house maintenance shop matters more than it might sound. The airplanes you train in are inspected by the same team that shares our hangar, and your instructor knows each one's history by tail number. With the maintenance and the training under one roof, a squawk gets caught and fixed here instead of turning a Saturday morning lesson into a cancelled one. It is a slower way to build a flight school, and it is the way we have chosen to do it.

Questions about our instructors.
Will I have the same flight instructor the whole time?
Yes. You keep one Certified Flight Instructor from your first discovery flight through your checkride. They learn how you learn, so you are not re-explaining yourself to a new face every couple of weeks. If a schedule conflict ever comes up, we talk to you first.
Are your flight instructors FAA certified?
Every instructor who teaches here holds an FAA Certified Flight Instructor certificate. We train to the FAA Airman Certification Standards, the same ones your checkride is graded against.
Can I take lessons on weekends?
The office runs Monday through Friday, 9 to 5, and we schedule weekend lessons by appointment. Tell your instructor what your week looks like and we build around it. Call (941) 375-9727 to find a time.
Do you teach ground school, or only flying?
Both. We run ground school in the classroom and in the aircraft, so the book work and the flying finally line up. You study the knowledge side alongside your lessons instead of cramming for the written test on your own.
Can you train me all the way to becoming an instructor?
Yes. Our training programs run from your first discovery flight through Private, Instrument, and Commercial, and on to the CFI and CFII ratings. If your goal is to teach or fly for a living, we can take you the whole way.
What to expect
Your first hour with an instructor.

Brief on the ground
Before you ever taxi, your instructor walks you through the airplane, the plan for the flight, and what you'll actually be doing. Bring every question. There are no dumb ones.

Fly from the left seat
You take the controls with your instructor right beside you. Thirty minutes over the Gulf coast, hands on the yoke, learning the feel of the airplane in real air.

Debrief and a plan
Back on the ground, your instructor signs your logbook and tells you straight where you stand. Then you map out the next step together, so you leave knowing exactly what your next lesson will work on.
